Brief Method Summary
|
A portion of well-mixed sample is dried at 105oC. A portion of dry, well-mixed sample is carefully weighed and then ignited at 550oC. The loss of weight on ignition represents the amount of volatile solids in the sample. |
Scope and Application

This method may be used to analyze samples of bottom material. Usually, only the material that will pass a 2-mm sieve is taken for analysis. |
