Brief Method Summary
Inoculate tubes of M-staphylococcus broth and incubate at 35 deg. C. for 24 hours. Hold the original enrichment sample but streak from positive (turbid) tubes on plates of lipovitellenin-salt mannitol agar and incubutate at 35 deg. C. for 48 hours. Opaque yellow zones around colonies indicate positive reactions. Refer to Section 7 for additional procedures if the plate is negative.

Sample Handling
Collect samples as directed in Section 9060A. Use sterile containers of 120 to 480 mL and add sufficient sodium thiosulfate to provide a concentration of about 100 mg/L in the sample.
